After rotating through multiple business placements and finishing my studies at college. I now settle into my permanent role for my last year of the apprenticeship. This involves me working with other engineers completing real design tasks. I am expected to work independently and deliver work to a standard that would be expected of other engineers. This sometimes involves ship visits but primarily my time is spent researching legacy information.
Since being in my permanent placement I have increased my knowledge of electrical theory and learnt the processes used to be a design engineer. Before this placement I had completed a HND in engineering.
I enjoy my job/apprenticeship. I have no complaints and wouldn't change a thing.
Very, we are looked after and there are many incentives to working for this company. I have a secure job and I pay into the share scheme monthly. There is scope for me to complete further studies in the future.
The program itself has improved greatly over the years.
This is slightly irrelevant since I don't have a training provider any more.
In the future I may be supported to complete further education.
There is a structured pay rise every year. I am happy with the pay I have received so far.
At the early years of the apprenticeships yes, however I am now expected to book my time to working projects, so there is no scope for opportunities outside.
Yes
I now work for a company that values its employees and have the potential to be employed in engineering for life due to the skills I have learnt.
Do it. Make sure you can keep up with the maths at college.
