For the first year we are stationed at CEMAST college and studying a HNC before we go into the work environment. on a day to day basis, the role undertakes studying and learning new skills that can be taken into the workplace. the college we attend is incredibly helpful and have had minimal issues regarding teachers and staff.
since starting the apprenticeship, I have acquired more knowledge through engineering and maths that I had not previously had, this has resulted in me feeling confident and happy with my position.
I have enjoyed all aspects of the programme, this is from the initial introduction to the company, to becoming a respected member of the company within this year.
I feel valued at BAE Systems, the company have kept us in the balance even though we are currently separate from the company due to the college.
I feel the programme is structured and organised well, after doing the introduction week we was informed of our college placement for the year and the company have been ensuring we are performing well and that there are no problems with our learning.
our training provider has provided sufficient support for our learning needs. however, the training provider has caused numerous problems throughout this year. which on top of our heavy work load has caused unneeded stress. overall, the training provider has supported well but only certain lecturers have provided this good support.
we receive all the support we need from BAE. our managers have been with us through out the training and have given relevant assistance when required.
the salary is sufficient for personal and work needs. having moved to the area for the apprenticeship, rent is an issue, however the pay has caused minimal upset from my increased outgoings.
BAE offered the chance to become STEM ambassadors which is voluntary and enables the ability to show our knowledge and experience to younger possible engineers/apprentices.
Yes
BAE Systems has made me feel welcome and important. since joining the company they have ensured we are performing and coping to a high standard so that our future within the company is bright.
ensure that you are prepared for the assessments and that background of the company has been researched.
