Project management & Project controls; creating metric packs, reporting data, monitoring progress as well as managing some smaller projects throughout the lifecycle to gain a full understanding of how the company run projects.
I have developed on my communication skills as well as gaining invaluable training in relation to project management-related skills such as using tools such as excel, as well as being able to attend training courses and conferences to network and gain wider knowledge on the roles available
I think the programme itself is a very good programme and provides all of the foundation knowledge required to become a good project manager. The placements themselves are very challenging and you are able to take as much responsibility as you feel comfortable with, and have accesses to support when required. The educational side is slightly frustrating, however this is mainly due to poor communication from our learning provider
Within my placement I feel valued and respected, however it does depend on who you speak to as to what an 'apprentice' is seen as. Internally there are lots of routes for recognition however they aren't necessarily flowed down to the correct people in order to allow for opportunities for everyone to be recognised.
The programme I am on is still in its infancy therefore there are a lot of teething problems which are to be expected - a lot of this revolving around the learning provider. However I feel overall issues a re responded to quickly and changes are made when required so the leaners voice do get heard by the company.
We receive some support from the training provider, however I feel I most benefit from the support I gain from within my placement, or internal to the business.
I receive a lot of support from my employer, both my placement and line manager are very helpful and have quick responses to concerns as well as allowing adaptability for working and studying.
My salary is currently ok for my living costs, however I do still live at home and would not be able to afford to move out on the salary within the area which I work. I am currently trying to save for a mortgage but its still a few years off before I will even be able to attempt to buy anywhere.
The company is closely linked with a lot of local projects and clubs so there are opportunities to get involved in these, and they are often publicised
Yes
It is a company which is investing highly in young people and understand the level they are at, but provide opportunities for individuals to improve, grow and develop.
Don't worry about your level of experience, its about applying what you know, not proving your an expert - especially for the apprenticeship schemes - its about showing your the type of person with the skills they are looking for.
