I am currently in my second year of the Project Management scheme. My current tasks surround running small improvement projects for our Early Careers team.
As part of the programme I have completed a professional qualification from the Association of Project Management (APM). Additionally instructor led courses for key software such as Excel and PowerPoint has been beneficial.
It is good to be working on real projects with a real level of responsibility. My current team are very supportive and seem to have a genuine interest in my development.
As a big company BAE Systems has a wide variety of support to all staff levels. My current manager is happy to support my ideas and provides recognition where appropriate.
The programme is well structured clearly communicating key milestones and deadlines. There is obvious achievement throughout the scheme.
The college that provide our training have good support processes in place however tutors can be quite slow to react and not willing to accept responsibility when there are issues.
As a big company BAE Systems has a wide variety of support to all staff levels. A formal mentoring scheme is available along with positive support towards CPD activities.
My current salary sufficiently covers my living, travel and social costs with good pay and progression set out for the future. Flexible working also provides the opportunity to tailor my working pattern utilising costs for travel more effectively.
BAE Systems are involved in many events within the community. There are many onsite services such as subsidised food and a gym. There is also opportunity to get involved in the local community and promote STEM and apprenticeships to young people.

When applying to BAE Systems make sure that you do your research surrounding what BAE do and keep to the deadlines of the application. The assessment days are demanding but being confident and making sure your opinion is heard is important.
