I have the title of Apprentice Software Engineer so the day to day task tend to change a lot depending on what stage the product is currently at. I can include software changes, testing, generating supporting documents and other task depending on what area of the business you are currently working in.
All my software skills have been enhanced as a result of the on the job training. I also am learning new skills at university and in work based training courses.
I enjoy the programme very much and could not think of anything better I could be doing. Everyone is generally friendly and willing to help and it is subject matter than I am interested in. Working here doesn't feel like work most the time.
I feel very valued as I am taking part in 'real' work and I can see they are investing a lot of time and money into me so I can be the best version of myself. There is measures in place to make sure I am happy and healthy in my current role and do not feel like I am in over my head.
I can see a plan of the entire programme even though I am only in the first year and although it is subject to change the structure is there and I would not expect it to be this well organised considering I am part of only the 2nd intake of apprentices
There are a lot of routes available if you are struggling but I cannot fully comment on any of these as I have found everything manageable to a first class standard so far in the course. I am generally enjoying the course and feel like if there was a problem I would be able to get it sorted.
I receive a lot of support and encouragement from any involved in the programme and can rely on them for help as well as anyone in my current team.
Yes comfortably, although I am currently living at home.
There are events that can be volunteered for to support the company as well as leisure events that can be attended. There is a sports club and volunteer opportunities.
Yes
Great support, very competitive pay and good opportunities after the programme is complete.
Throughout the whole process be honest, show a genuine interest and always put your best foot forward. Make yourself memorable.
