I am a Contract Delivery Manager working within Project Management. I am responsible for delivery a set number of tasks for entry into service of an export programme. I have to ensure we meet the schedule for entry into service.
I am continuously building on existing skills from previous placements, whilst learning new skills. I am currently finalising my dissertation for my bachelors degree as well. I have registered to complete my APM PQ this year too hopefully.
I have really enjoyed this degree apprenticeship and it has provide me with a vast range of experience, more so that I anticipated. The company is a fantastic organisation to work for and I am looking forward to continuing my career at BAE Systems.
I have felt valued from Day 1 and have been accountable for tasks from Day 1 in the company. I think this is an important part of feeling valued and gaining experience. I have also been recognised for my efforts in both internal and external recognition.
My degree apprenticeship has been very well organised thanks to Bernard Kellett and Sharon Birchall. They spend a lot of time supporting the scheme and they are always available if and when needed.
I attend college on a weekly basis and have been provided with a great deal of support throughout my five years at college, studying for my foundation degree and bachelors degree. I have had a lot of support and guidance from my supervisor whilst compiling my dissertation.
My managers have all been very understanding. They stretch me within my day job but also understand my college requirements and allow me to have a day off to study at college weekly.
We are paid a very good salary from the start of our apprenticeship and this has increased throughout the last 5 years. I believe it is very competitive and meets the required living costs.
Since joining the company I have taken part in many extra curricular activities which I did not know would be offered to me prior to starting. BAE Systems is a very responsible company and does a lot of work for local and national charities.

They are a fantastic company to work for and really look after you as an individual throughout your career. You are paid a competitive salary to learn whilst you earn and it is an option all students should consider.
Make sure you do your research. There are many apprenticeships on offer with BAE Systems so choose the right one for you and do your research on the company prior to completing your assessment and attending an interview.
