Currently I am an Apprentice in the Facilities Management + Investment projects team at our samlesbury site delivering infrastructure and plant & equipment investment into the MAI sector. This is a role that varies from day to day from concept design through to project handover. The whole FM warton unit is accessible at all times to create a 'one team' approach to the delivery of projects.
In my current role I have had to manage contractors, engage stakeholders and meet customer requirements whilst balancing my NVQ and college work. This has developed my time management skills
The programme has provided me with endless opportunities. I get to earn whilst I learn. I have been encouraged and supported to realise my potential. I’ve had the opportunity to learn from colleagues who are experts in their field, and gain insights that can only come from real world experience
Throughout my apprenticeship my managers have taken an active role in my development and that reflects the appreciation they have for the work I put in.
The Technical apprenticeship model consists of 2 craft placements to gain manufacturing experience followed by 5 technical placements in different business units including design, support, test and manufacturing
Throughout my apprenticeship I have been made to feel comfortable by all that have had an input into my development and that has provided me with a network of people I can rely on should I need them
My apprenticeship manager has taken an active role in my projects and I feel I could approach him should I need him. The HR team are always accessible and will always either help or point you in the right direction
For a 17 year old I have no problems with my wage, however I would not turn down a pay rise. The pay structure is simple, pay increments apply when certain milestones are hit
The company have made it clear that they encourage participation in internal and external events as it benefits both parties. There are plenty of opportunities should you want to branch out to them
Yes
You are provided with the exposure and independence of a full time employee yet have the support network there should you need it. This company looks after you
Take advantage of all your opportunities that you are offered. You will only regret the ones you turned away. Just be yourself and come for the long haul not just a part time job
