Audit Associate Review

I am an audit associate at Grant Thornton. The work we have to complete varies on a weekly basis depending on the job we are currently working on. The majority of the work I complete if for clients out on site however there are also times we are working in the office. On average once a week I will attend college at the local training provider Kaplan working towards my AAT level 3 qualification. On the whole the training programme has been enjoyable so far.

You feel very welcome to the firm as a new joiner with everyone from your people manager to the colleagues who your are out on site on a daily basis with. On the whole the training programme has been enjoyable so far.

You do have a feeling of being valued at grant Thornton. They take note of your progress in your qualifications and you also receive feedback on the work you complete for each job you are involved in which is always useful.

the programme is excellently structured with your training and exams for the next 12 months booked in advance. your job bookings are also planned way in advance and are scheduled to fit around the qualifications you are studying for.

The training provider is very helpful. The tutors for each topic are extremely knowledgeable and able to answer any queries you may have in class and aid your progression. They also provide you with their email so you can contact them with any issue you have outside of class.

Grant Thornton as an employer are very helpful. If you have any issues your people manager is an easy and approachable person you can talk to about any issues you are having. Also any of your colleagues you are out on site with or in the office with are happy to help and explain things that you are struggling with no matter how busy they are.

We are fairly paid at Grant Thornton with regards to our basic salary and it also makes you feel more valued. Any additional expenses you incur from excess travel, over night accommodation and food for jobs is also reimbursed as expenses which you can claim through your timesheet weekly.

There are multiple opportunities to get involved with out of work. We have a summer and Christmas party every year and multiple small events throughout the year such as the Grant Thornton football tournament and Monday night 5 aside football at the FDC.

As a firm they take pride in making sure there staff are the best around. They make sure you feel valued for what you do and aid you with any issues you face. There a team spirit among the employees and this is shown through the amount of outer work activities we do together.
