I am a corporate tax trainee and I handle corporation tax compliance work for a number of my own clients and I help with other clients from around the team. I also do a small number of advisory projects in which I look into legislation and the laws surrounding areas of tax
Everythin I have learnt since I have startedhas been new. I came in a blank canvas and have very quickly picked up numerous skills specific to my role.
I do enjoy my work and I believe that there is definate room for progression for my career but also a certain flexibility within GT which removes some of the pressure from the work.
I feel Grant Thornton truly value me and genuinely care about my progression into my career. I feel this is one of the attributes that makes them stand out from oter emloyers.
The programe is quite well structured and I am aware of all the timings of my exams and work, however the large gap between starting the traineeship and completing exams is a questionable structure.
The training provided by Kaplan/Grant Thornton is excellent and I cannot flaw it. There is an expectance to spend alot of your own time revising and learning but this is of course expected entering a traineeship.
I recieve adequate support.
The Salary provied is competitive however cannot be expected to be too much as I am still in my first year of training with no qualifications as of yet
There are a few opportunities sucha s football and Golf days but not as many as first expected.
Yes
Because It is a good firm to work for in the sense of pay and support recieved when trying to pass your proffessional examinations.
Be yourself, Grant Thornton are looking for looking for the right person, not the person who necassarily has the highest grades. Although Grades obviously help.
