  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • What it is like to work in a real-world team on the job, it is something that cannot be recreated by standard group exercises.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have enjoyed it a lot as all of the people I am working with are more than happy to help you with anything that you need whether that be questions about something you are struggling to understand at work or something you don't understand at uni.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BAE Systems?
  • I feel very valued at BAE Systems as I am performing the tasks of a normal full time employee and all the teams I have worked in have been very greatfull for the extra help.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Even though I was part of the very first cohort to run through this Degree apprenticeship scheme I feel like the program is very well structured and actually quite straightforward to get your head around.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • You receive any support that you ask for, just like every other student at university, you can say that you don't get any extra support but at the end of the day if you don't ask you wont get. So anytime I have asked for extra support they have been more than willing to do so by organising extra lab sessions or even 1to1 sessions for you.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Again, this is the same as with uni, if you don't ask then of course you don't get. Whenever I have asked for a little help and guidance on a job I have been working on my line manager has always been very happy and eager to help me understand what it is that I need to do.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary for this apprenticeship is the best one going. This along with no uni fees and company bonuses make the package something that isn't even closely rivalled by other degree apprenticeships in the uk.

    10/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • We are always receiving emails about extra curricular activities outside of work and opportunities to experience new things with the people you work with. If you want opportunities they are there for the taking.

  • 9. Would you recommend BAE Systems to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • They are a large company who actually value their employees. If you are struggling with anything in your apprenticeship they will do anything they can to support you and get you through it as they see you as an investment that is worth working for and keeping on afterwards.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • The first few weeks might be a bit rough but I promise that it gets better as you settle into your role and get to know your team. Its amazing what just a few weeks of learning and experiencing a new job can teach you. Lastly just enjoy it, don't be scared of the fact that it is a huge company :)
