I completed the 4-week summer internship in Assurance. I was working alongside a senior associate and the work I was involved in was related to controls testing, creating workbooks, rewriting memos.
It was important for me to organise my work due to the large volume of it so I can keep track of how much is outstanding and ensure I am working efficiently.
I like having the balance of work and study in the programme, as this helps ease the transition to full time work. Also, the company culture was very friendly and i really do look forward to going back and working there.
I think EY was very good at making me feel like I was a part of the team. I was always helped along the way and everyone was keen to answer any questions I may have.
The structure and organisation of the programme is straightforward, so nothing confusing there. There are many informal and for meetings arranged by EY throughout the year. Before each placement, there are inducts and meetings to get you geared up for the placements. On the placement, there is a buddy assigned that can help you with small daily tasks and help you find your way around the office and area.
For any general problems regarding the scholarship or placements, you can just ask one of the student recruitment team members and they are always there to help throughout the year.
Same as above, you can just ask anyone in the student recruitment team any questions regarding the programme or placements and they are happy to help throughout the year.
My main expenses where travel and food, which were well covered in the salary. If there are any client related expenses, then EY reimburse you for them.
There are social events that take place throughout the year in various departments. EY also has sports teams you can get involved with and other societies that match your interests.
Yes
It was a great working environment, the work was varied and interesting, and the people were really friendly and helpful.
Ensure you prepare for the assessment centre well and have a few good examples on hand for the interview. Also, ask for help when you don't understand anything, as everyone is helpful there and it will help you work more efficiently.
