During my day to day role as an apprentice working on the shop floor typically we service the vehicles in the shop or modify them using the specified tools whilst following procedures.
Yes I have learnt new skills during my apprenticeship such as the use of hand tools, air tools, machines and gained an all round knowledge of the vehicle platform I work upon.
I enjoy my programme very much to the extent that I am attempting to pursue not just my apprenticeship but my carrer within the role I am working.
We receive a lot of appreciation from our managers and placement managers when completing a job correctly as well as this we are held to a high standard simply by wearing the BAE logo.
Due to the nature of our work the organisational side of the programme is very difficult as we can only tend to whatever work is available which in quite a few cases there is none.
We receive adequate support from the training provider when dealing with college or NVQ work however when it comes to the actual work they are not needed.
We receive a lot of support from our employer with regards to all aspects of the apprenticeship and our manager always looks out for myself and the others.
My salary allows me to live away from my parents and not need to borrow any money in the process. due to me relocating close to work I have no costs towards travel except from going to college.
Yes there are career events that we sometimes attend as well as charity projects that can be done. as well as this we can socialise with each other outside of work.
