Spend most of my time validating injection mould tools for plastic components. A lot of my expertise is in the Metrology (Measurement, jig fixture design, program writing), functional testing and X-ray.
- I have been on numerous courses to develop my knowledge. (Including - Statistics courses, Injection mould training, General packaging training.) - Skills learnt include - Time management, Project management, financial management, Further developed in rigid plastics, cans and colour development. - Foundation degree in mechanical engineering. Approaching final year of BEng.
I very much enjoy the programme. The team is great. Both local and global colleagues. I enjoy working with suppliers and teams around the world on big projects. I still enjoy my work 5 years in. However I do wish there was more opportunity to travel as this is one reason I applied for the job.
I feel very valued. I have been trained in numerous areas and now I am classed as an expert in certain areas. I feel there would be a skill gap if I were to leave.
The programme seems to be structured from a Unilever point of view but the degree side is very unorganized. The university of Hull is very poor and have not been helpful in trying to rectify issues.
Minimal. Lots of issues that never seem to get solved. Even such as not including modules in our timetable. So we have a full days timetable and no room for this missing module so we have to do this from 5pm til 7pm instead. Nobody seems to want to take responsibility. teaching standard in some lectures is also very poor.
Masses. Whenever I require support or help my line manager and other colleagues are always willing to help.
Barely. I feel I do the same, if not more work than people in a higher pay bracket than myself. I have sinced moved out on my own and struggle from time to time. I understand that I am still an apprentice but I have 5 years of experience and I am not viewed as an apprentice in the workplace.
Lots of activities to do out of work if I have time/money. This includes witht he work team.
Yes
Great place to work and it is possible to get out as much as you put in. only downside is the pay. Which ultimately has to be a key factor sometimes.
Research the company. They are fond of people who show a genuine passion for something (Mine was cars.) They don't just want smart robots who can get 100% on exams. They was social able and passionate people who work well as a team.
