I am currently working as a tax analyst in London. I work with large clients and work on projects, whereby we aid employers with their taxes with regards to their employees' global mobility, and it's tax implications.
I have lesrnt many new skills in my apprenticeship. Apart from the obvious technical element of my role, I have been massively exposed to huge business and the financial world, and have developed my personal understanding of business. This has meant that I have learnt how to communicate with clients, how to remain professional and how to consult effectively, as well as giving the best possible impression of the brand.
I enjoy the programme a lot as there is a good mix of study and working, thereby we get both exposure in the real world as well as developing technical skills.
I feel very valued by Deloitte, as it is a business of people, and my collagues and those around me understand how to work in teams and interact with colleagues in order to maximise productivity and team spirit. there is also a lot of internal recognition and incentive, which is a big boost when you feel you have performed well.
the structure of my programme could be better and more clearly communicated as the programme hadn't been finalised by the time I had joined, as it was a completely new initiative.
I receive a lot of support from my training provider, who regularly send content via email and also have regular check in calls with a coach from the training provider.
My training provider provides huge support by accommodating for exams by alleviating workload and providing time off. team members are also highly considerate of workload whilst doing exams.
my salary package certainly meets my normal costs and I am also able to save. Therefore for a first year starting salary, I am happy with my salary.
there are many opportunities outside of work to get involved with, including sports groups, cultural groups, weekend and evening activities, all of which are well advertised online and via communications.
Yes
Deloitte provided me with an opportunity and a pathway to get to where I wanted without university, by providing support and investment and most of all, crucial business exposure and experience.
I would recommend that at Deloitte, people are encouraged to do things and take action, therefore not to be afraid of making your ideas heard as someone is always willing to listen, and that the firm is a forward thinking and innovative firm seeking change.
