I am a apprentice business planner for Virgin Media. On a day to day basis, I plan cable routes for all types of businesses to allow them to get fibre optic in their building.
I have learnt many new skills within this apprenticeship including new and advanced software's. I have also developed on my verbal and written communication skills and I communicate a lot with customers via email, phone and face to face conversations.
I enjoy my apprenticeship as I like my place of work and the people I work with. I also enjoy learning something different every day. The apprenticeship meets my expectations as I get a good wage and I find that the work load is a good amount for us to work with.
Being an apprenticeship means a lot of value to Virgin Media, as we are the future of the business in our different roles. Our manager is always making sure that we are happy and that we understand what we are doing. We have regular meetings with our manager and our mentors to make sure we are all up to date .
I find that my apprenticeship isn't as organized as I would like as it has taken a little while for my training to be arranged and to be put in place. I think that we should have a booklet containing scheduled dates of our apprenticeship for when we should accomplish coursework or dates for coursework to be completed.
I receive a lot of support especially in my office. Due to being an apprentice, I have my own mentor that will support and help me the whole way through my apprenticeship. This is a good amount of support as he is always there to answer any questions that I have.
My employer is my apprentice manager and me and the other apprentices meet with him once a month to go through our work and to discuss our progress. However, we do not get much support from him when needing help.
I am on a really good salary for an apprentice starting wage and it increases throughout the 2 years. Virgin Media also have a great benefits package including health insurance and other benefits which can be added on.
Outside work we have the chance to do team activities to raise money for charity which Virgin Media arrange. Virgin Media like raising money for charity as it gives employees the chance to take a break of work and do a team building activity for a good cause.
Yes
