My role is a apprentice network engineer on networks we are responsible for building and maintaining the virgin media network and keeping customers online by fixing daily faults.
yes i have learned lots of of new skills such as working with electronics and how to use the tools of the trade i have also developed old skills such as talking to customers and how to build things from scratch.
i enjoy the program a lot its a good job as im not pushed over my limits im trusted to get on with work and there is always someone to help when i need it i had a few expectations as i had heard a lot about virgin but it surpassed them its a good company to work for.
as much as i am replaceable at virgin media they make me feel as though im not they support me when i do something wrong and help me learn the correct way to do it.
Not very as im the first apprentice in my area there has been some issues with structure but the company does take my advice and are slowly sorting it out.
a lot our apprenticeship manager comes to see us as often as possible and helps us in every way he can to make sure we know what we are doing.
as much as they can as people like my manager are very busy and so is everyone but they help with everything they can even on the more menial things.
the salary is good obviously a bit more would be useful as what im on is just enough but i know its alot more than most apprenticeships so i can't complain.
No not really most people my age struggle to get a good job even with good qualifications the best you can do is working in a shop or call centre so i think apprenticeships are the only way of getting a decent job.
Yes
They are one of the best company to work for the pay is fair and they don't force you to overwork yourself.
Learn to drive. and learn about the network being used from coaxial to fibre.
