Currently I am fully enrolled in my position as a business network engineer, day to day changes whether I am on customer faults, new installs, training or preperation work for the next week.
I have learned a multitude of new skills and abilities since joining the apprenticeship 9 months ago . From being not knowing anything about the hfc network to now being fairly competent in my day to day roll
I enjoy my own learning, the rate that they allow me to develop and how much help there is available if I do get into a situation that I may have never experienced before. Always great to learn knew things and develop yourself on a daily basis
With the amount of time, effort and resources this company has put into me I could feel nothing other than highly valued. You aren't seen as a new apprentice and a burden to who ever is coaching you, you are seen as the future of the company and a highly prized future engineer
This being the first year of my particular apprenticeship there where areas that needed attention and others that were right from the get go, but with plenty of feedback from us as apprentices virgin media has adapted and molded the apprenticeship like a fluid to best suit out needs
I receive all the support and coaching I need. But at the same time I would like to add that in no way do they hold your hand a spoon feed you, they quickly become aware of what my capabilities are and how quickly I can "dive into the deep end" so to speak
I have already stated the amount of time and effort virgin media has put into myself making me feel like a key future cog to the virgin media machine. Whether it be physical support from fellow field engineers or just a quick catch up phone call with my manager to see how things are going it shows that they do really care about my development
I cannot argue with the salary that virgin offers for what is an apprenticeship it is generous to say the least
Virgin offers plenty of opportunities for many outside of work activities, whether it be giving us a social fund to go out with our team mates or competitions to enter allowing you the chance to go on activities or win prizes. As well as large number of charity driven activities to do from sponsored cycles to helping out with aid in foreign countries
Yes
I have had a wide variety of jobs, and I can say whole heartedly that I have enjoyed none to this extent. I have never felt so valued as an employee or as trusted by a company to go and and show them what I am really cape of hinder pressure
This company wants nothing else that for you to work hard and be yourself, they don't want "yes no robots" they want people that can learn, develop and make a difference within the company
