My job roles is described as a Business Engineer. This means on a day to day basis i'll be doing installs and faults into business such as Asda or the NHS. I often interact with customers, teammates and other companies such as BT.
I've already learnt a lot of new skills such as basic electricity, fibre-optic frequencies and CAT5 network. I have done internal training such as fibre and Telco training and external training such as NRSWA.
I enjoy the programme a lot. The team I work with are friendly and a good laugh and the work is something different everyday which makes things exciting. The company culture is exceptional as they support you and give you the freedom to progress and do your work.
I feel very valued from VM. My manager offers me support as much as he can and praises me on a regular basis. I'm involved regularly with tasks and work and am already been given jobs to do by myself which shows the trust me.
The programme is very well organized. We started with a 1 week induction the did a few weeks service training which really helped with our basic knowledge. We are also given 1 study day a week to help us stay on track with our apprenticeship work.
We have a apprenticeship manager allocated to us who has been extremely helpful and supportive throughout the apprenticeship. There is always someone available for support whether its from someone in my team, a manager or someone over the phone.
I receive a lot of support from my manager, principle [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] and teammates who give me advice and the equipment whenever I need it. I have an allocated mentor from my team who educates and supports me whenever I need.
My salary package is terrific for an apprentice. Much better than government funded schemes. They also provide a terrific pay rise at the end of the scheme. The company provides tools, a van and a laptop.
There are a lot of opportunities outside of work such as charity events, company night outs and things like army reverse. There are also sporting opportunities like watching Southampton as Virgin sponsor them.
Yes
Its a brilliant company to work for with great opportunities, pay and progression. It offers freedom, enjoyment and something different everyday which makes things very interesting.
Be honest and yourself when applying for the role. When the interview comes be prepared, organized, punctual and also composed when dealing with and questions. Prepare your presentation well and be calm when delivering it.
