As a Procurement Engineer, I buy assets on behalf of the Customer from my specific Suppliers. This involves interacting with the Customer team and other functions in the business. I work across platform which allows me to compare processes and see how they vary.
I have learnt to use many different systems i.e. EMS POM and BaaN, had on the job training for each placement and been involved in many away days and courses
I really enjoy the many opportunities the programmes presents, more than what I expected. Every team I have worked with have been genuinely interested in my development and stretch assignments.
I feel I have always gained recognition from my line managers for the work that I am doing, as well as great feedback from the Suppliers I have worked with. This definitely helps me feel valued within the company
The programme as a whole is well structured. Some of the timings of the placement changeovers could be revised, for example moving into a new placement at the end of November when everyone was preparing for Christmas meant I was unable to make the most of my time.
My assessor is always available to answer work and NVQ related questions, and is always willing to attend meetings to provide support and guidance.
Every manager and team I have had has supported me with my development with my daily jobs and NVQ work
My salary enables me to rent a house and covers all living costs.
I have been involved with volunteering work outside of work through the programme and I am aware of many other opportunities
