Under the training we receive, we spend a few weeks on different sections in order to see which ones suit us. We then have to narrow it down and we are then directed down this route after our first year. It's great to use machines and equipment that you may never come across in everyday life!
Both! I've developed resilience when it comes to solving problems but simultaneously learnt new skills on the machines and the different techniques we use. Not only that, but we develop strong bonds with the people we work with, and they are always willing to help us, as are the instructors! It is definitely a scheme to develop new and existing skills.
I really enjoy the programme because it is everything I imagined and then some. There have been opportunities I never thought I'd get and if you make the most of them, there is no stopping you.
I feel extremely valued and initiatives such as forums and representatives means that we all have the chance to voice our opinions and raise issues if there are any. If we ever need help, there is always someone there and safeguarding is taken extremely seriously so every apprentice always feel safe and secure.
Our scheme is well structured and everyone knows when assessments are due and what is required of us. We are also made aware of assignment deadlines at college. Overall, we all know how the course plans out and what we all need to do in order to achieve our qualifications.
As much as we need. Obviously our hands aren't held through assessment pieces, but we are never left behind and if we are struggling, help and support is put in place. There is plenty of additional help available if it is needed - all you have to do, is ask!
This is the same as above. There is always help available and it is up to you to make them aware of any issues so they can support you. Everyone is willing to help so it is up to you to seek it.
The salary works well for me personally, and I'd much rather be earning anything than racking up debt on a university course. I'm getting the best of both worlds via studying and working so I could never see an issue with the amount we get paid to do it.
Plenty! There are lots of charitable opportunities such as the Three Peaks or sponsored walks. Apprentices often organise social gatherings and events outside of work hours which all are welcome to attend.
Yes
It is a great company to work for and the opportunities you can get are not something you could easily access in a classroom. You're getting paid to gain experience in a sector you have an interest in, and they'll do everything they can to make it as enjoyable as is physically possible.
Make sure you are an organised individual as it takes a lot of planning to get your work done and balanced evenly. But most importantly, make sure you enjoy every second of it and take every opportunity that is presented to you.
