- Network Engineer - IT, Configurations, Project Management, Programme Management, Event organisation
I have gained knowledge in IT, programming and project management. I am studying for a foundation degree in network engineering which is completely new to me
I can't imagine my life without having done this! I have loved every second. The apprenticeship is not just a job, it's a lifestyle. Everything I had hoped for and more!
Extremely, we are given so many opportunities and the support from my peers is amazing. We are given performance reviews so I can see how i'm progressing and managers have always helped me to achieve my goals
I had a weeks induction with everyone in my area of the business and then a further week induction with my local team. we then get day release for university and also a study day so that we can keep up with our studies alongside out degree
We regularly meet and they are aware of my progression, they are interested in my day job and the things I am studying, they take feedback seriously and always keep up to date with the university
my managers have always been amazing, they have helped me to develop a career plan and allowed me to explore as many different roles as possible
I am in a very fortunate position with my pay in comparison to other people my age, it has allowed me to pay for driving lessons and a car, I can now pay rent at home and I am saving for a house
BT constantly opens up opportunities for apprentices and there are many chances for us to socialise with each other, we also have leisure facilities on site e.g. gym and tennis courts so I am a regular member there too
Yes
I have grown my knowledge but most importantly as a person, something I have noticed friends who have gone to uni may not have gained just yet.
show your passion to learn, and research the company - it's massive! I did not come from a technical background but my passion to learn and gain the knowledge definitely helped me get to where I am today!
