My current role within the apprenticeship is within an engineering team which supports a build line. New problems are thrown up every day and i am very involved with all different people in all different roles.
I have gained a level two NVQ qualification, i am currently working on NVQ level 4 and a foundation degree within aerospace engineering which will lead into a bachelors degree within aerospace engineering.
The program is great so far, some support from the apprenticeship team is not very detailed and its sometimes hard to get in conact with the aprenticeship team.
BAE systems makes me feel like a very valued team memeber as everyone is treated at the same level, so its easy to interact with anyone on a friendly basis.
The program is well structured in reagrds to the placements and qualifications, the scheme itself as it has only been running for 2 years lacks some structure which will develop as the scehem progresses.
The training provider aids my learning very well and helps me to acheive all of my targets. The support is always there when neeeded and can be contacted at any time.
My employer on my placement is very helpful, pushing me to try new things and aiding with my personal professional development. They were very welcoming ang helped me settle into the company.
My salary meets my costs at the moment but the progression in pay has not been agreed on which is quite worrying. I may be penalised for doing a degree in comparison to other company apprenticeship schemes which needs to be sorted.
yes there are plenty of opportunities to get involved with STEM activities in which you can help promote the comapny at fairs ect. the company also give you the chance to do charity work.
Yes
The company is fantastic and have a great working life for all of their employees. the schemes they offer are rewarding and the job is a job for life.
Be ready to push yourself, to get the most of the apprentivceship you need to push yourself to ask questions and handle situations which you will not have experieneced before.
