Network apprentice, involving completing tasks with supervision and learning more about the BT network. attending meetings and other team activities
I have learnt many skills during my apprenticeship so far, including working with experienced network engineers and completing responsible work and being involved in many training courses and learning many different things about BTs network
I enjoy coming to work as its a way of earning and learning. I get along well with the other members of staff and the training I have been provided with has been excellent. I feel confident in the office to talk about elements of the network as I understand the network.
I feel a valued member of my team as I have took on work and trained to complete the work successfully, right first time. all of the projects I have taken part in I have had a part in and felt like a member of the team
the structure of my 3 year apprenticeship has been organised well with a 1 week induction in a training centre and then followed by an introduction at the office I am working at. then completing my level 3 BTEC in a training centre 1 week a month for 5 months. the study days have been provided to me as 1 day a week this enables me to complete my NVQ. support can be offered through my apprentice coach or line manager
I receive support from my apprentice coach when talking about anything may that be work related or home related. my apprentice coach is very understanding and completes 12 weekly reviews with me to check up on me and my work. any issues that may occur I can get in contact with them at any point via email, text or call
my manager supports me by talking to me about any issues. also having 1-1 review sessions to talk about job progression and training. if any issues occur then they get dealt with as a priority
for an apprenticeship the salary is very good especially with annual pay reviews with if I perform could result in a pay increase which also encourages people to do well in their job. with my Paycheck I pay off all my bills which includes petrol for my car, board money for my mom and dad, and many other social occasions
there are lots of opportunities to do things outside of work, our team are about to go on a team building exercise in Birmingham on a weekend, this is good as it gives people time to get along without revolving everything around the work. I am also going on a business trip to Ipswich to look at what others do in their job which relates to mine to give me a better view of my day to day job role
Yes
Because BT is a great company to work for, its a job for life, there are many different opportunities to move to a completely different area to BT if the work you are currently on does not satisfy you.
to never give up applying, I applied for BT straight out of school and got rejected due to my age however 1 year later I received an email from BT asking me if I wanted to apply again. I applied again and got an interview then carrying on to getting the job.
