I currently work in a customer service based role. I handle complex cases regarding technical based queries and any issues with Broadband, PSTN and TV.
I have learnt various skills including, complaint handling, customer care handling and technical based knowledge. I have learnt how to develop my professional skills in addition.
I have enjoyed the programme, I believe it was well balanced between office and classroom based. I enjoyed working with my team and helping out where necessary to help other colleagues complete their work on time. I enjoyed the classroom based learning and found it was sufficient in developing my professional skills
I don't feel valued in BT- to a certain extent. I believe that, although I love the role I am in, there could be more done with towards organising, funding in training and appreciation where credit due. I feel my time in BT currently has had mixed feelings and found that credit has not been given for due course but where more popular. I find that, although again I have been lucky to have been given opportunities, that these will cease to continue after my apprenticeship.
The structure of the training was well organised. It was relayed to us at the beginning of the year and set out expectations accordingly. I feel the training we got initially was sufficient and he length of time was perfect to establish a base knowledge of BT. I found the support initially was amazing from the Team leader however from BT manager not so great.
I feel I have been given great support from my tutor. She has had a great attitude towards my completion and strived to give me as many opportunities as possible. She has always listened to my needs and expectations meeting them at every corner. I enjoyed working alongside my tutor and thank her for her work.
I feel my support from my employer was good. BT has allowed me to go on trips to other departments (arranged by Apprentice network). I feel the support from my Manager has been ok.
The salary meets the cost of living. However, as an older apprentice (whereby arranging a mortgage and wedding) I found it was strained and was difficult to maintain any social cost and travel cost. BT should consider a travel cost for those outside a certain mileage. The salary should be higher and match those who do the same role.
so far I have had very little opportunities outside of work. I do not solely blame BT as they have emailed discounted activities however do not suit my salary or my time outside of work.
No
I feel that for people who want to progress and strive in a company BT do not accommodate this fairly. However, I do enjoy my time and would always praise BT, where they want to apply is down to themselves.
I would advise to be professional, represent the BT brand and care about the values BT want to promotes. I would be friendly and advise to take on board
