I am an associate in UK&I assurance Daily tasks include working as an auditor and holding meetings with the client to discuss areas of the accounts for which it is my responsibility to audit Internal interactions will be between the audit team (manager usually comes out on site 2/3 times a week) External interactions are constant - many client meetings per day Depending on the client I can be responsible for either some areas of the accounts or I will be wholly responsible for the whole audit - sometimes with a team below me. Projects are external financial audits (usually between 2-4weeks per audit) Everyday is completely different - depends on what client and what I'm looking at (huge work variety)
I am training to become a chartered accountant (ACA with ICAEW) Internal training is frequent usually taking the form of a week long conference in a hotel somewhere I developed great interpersonal and client facing skills as this accounts for a large proportion of my daily role
I enjoy my job hugely - it is the perfect career for me. All aspects of my expectations were exceeded
Very valued - I am given lots of responsibility and there are always new challenged available. Constant feedback from managers is encouraged Internal recognition takes form of a £50 voucher if you go above and beyond Team awards/celebrations are frequent
Very well structured Excellent training and support Paid study leave + college courses Excellent external college provided by Kaplan for my ACA qualification
A huge amount - very accessible with a huge amount of online content too I enjoy it a lot
Lots - I have a buddy and a counsellor who are both very supportive HR readably available
I feel I should be paid more for the contributions I make - I perform above and beyond expectations however I am still one of the lowest paid employees - despite coaching and leading teams of people who are paid more than me. However my salary does meet my costs. Business travel is paid by EY
