Audit Trainee - assisting with the testing of accounts and ultimately performing work that enables EY to provide an audit opinion of a companies accounts. Day to day tasks can vary massively - from admin based work to more investigative roles and a lot of client exposure. Many opportunities to go around the country and abroad whilst working for clients
Excel and analytical skill have been greatly improved. My interpersonal skills have also developed whilst working at EY - this has been helped by extensive client contact from day 1. After initial college time I have been able to grasp many new concepts relating to accounting Currently studying towards a CFAB and then moving onto ACA qualification over the 5 year course.
The people at EY are great - lots of really admirable people to look up to and learn from. Great friendly company culture and real transparency between all ranks at the firm. I have really enjoyed getting to know my colleges and have made many friends at EY
EY has had a real push for recognition since I have started and I have noticed this. we have weekly thank you sections in news letters and managers are really encouraged to show appreciation for the teams efforts. More recently due to budget restraints values awards (monetary recognition awards) have been severely limited which did not go down well. Despite this I still feel that what I do and how I contribute is valued
could do with more training for first exams. We have had a 7 or so month gap between our initial college and exams. A lot of the more finite stuff within the course that is not necessarily uses regularly has faded.
Tutors are great - could do with some more college time for the first exams - there was a 7 month gap between where some things have naturally been forgotten. This has caused quite a bit of stress for upcoming exams.
Great people Leaders and HR representatives. Plenty of people to air grievances to. A lot of the time a lot of effort goes into resolving these when possible.
The salary is good for a first year school leaver - further into the programme as you learn more and can complete more difficult task etc. the pay does not reflect that from other peoples experiences. Graduates get paid considerably more than school leavers. A school leaver with more experience and time at EY will get paid less than a graduate who has just joined the firm.
Charity events such as the tougher mudder and 3 peaks challenge are organised by EY. Social event are also organised that provide great opportunities for networking
Yes
EY is full of great people and is a great environment to learn in.
During the interviews be yourself - EY will see that and get a better idea of what you will be like and how you will fit in with our amazing people
