My Job Title is Assistant Senior. My day to day tasks involve coaching the lower level / junior members of the audit team and completing the relevant accounts i am given on different jobs. I am in direct contact with the audit team and managers aswell as the client contacts.
I have started my ACA qualification with EY. I have completed 8 out of the 15 exams i need to complete.I have been able to expand on my technical knowledge year on year by completing each of the exams. In addition i have developed my communication skills by meeting new people and having to work with different levels of management.
I enjoy the school leaver programme as it has allowed me to meet lots of different people and make new connections and friends. I have been exposed to a wide range of clients and had the opportunity to work in lots of different places across the UK and abroad.
I feel as though there is an element of feeling valued at EY, however in a big company it is very easy for you to feel lost or part of the mass. There are different types of rewards which are given for hard work and effort which shows the appreciation.
There is a lot of structure to the programme as there has now been a set of school leavers who have completed the it this year. Each year we know what exams we will sit which in turn determines as what level we are at each year.
There are courses which we attend each year as we move up the business. Each course is relevant to the work you will be doing in that year. There is not one individual person who we receive training from but groups of people on the courses.
There is a lot of support at EY from Managers but also counselors. Each individual is allocated a counselor which you can use as a sounding board or even just a general chat.
I think on the school leaver programme the salary is reasonable however i think when moving from year to year it needs to increase slightly more. This is because when you are working hard each year it should be reflected in your pay
There are lots of opportunities outside of work such as the sports teams which people create in the business and the socials which are organised. These are things which everyone can be involved in
Yes
EY allows you to develop your skills as a person but also allows you to help others to excel in these areas as well. The people who work at EY are all friendly professionals and it is a good environment to work in.
I would say you need to look into what EY does as a company and what the different departments do as they are all unique and offer different experiences. In addition i would say be confident in your approach to EY and be passionate about what we do.
