I am an auditor which means on a daily basis I travel to client sites, mainly across Yorkshire, and perform work on their accounts to ensure they are reporting the correct figures in their accounts
I have not yet completed any exams however will be doing my first set shortly to obtain my CFAB qualification before dong my professional exams. I have developed good people skills working in audit.
I enjoy the teams I work with and get along well with all my colleagues at EY. I have been welcomed into the company very well since starting last year. I enjoy working at different clients often.
Managers and seniors at EY regularly give praise after each job and for excelling in a certain task. This contributes towards feeling valued in the firm and in a team.
The programme is very well organised. We were given a very well organised induction with school leavers from the whole country and we have been well informed/supported with all college updates.
Our college, Kaplan, regularly keep us informed with work needed to be done by emailing us and hosting webinars for us to talk to them and we are kept well informed from this.
We each have councillors with whom we have regular catch up's with. Our councillors are always willing to help us when we need them which provides us with a lot of support from EY as a whole.
Our salary is competitive with other big firms and covers my living costs, daily costs and social costs well given my area in Hull. We also receive suitable travel expenses which cover my travel expenses to clients.
There are plenty of charity events in which our firm/office take part in including a 10k which is coming up for the Hull Office to raise money for charity. I am also a sprinter for KUHAC and I am able to keep up my training after work.
Yes
EY has provided me with a career for my future and given me the opportunity to develop my skills and obtain my accounting qualifications. I enjoy the programme and would recommend it to friends for that reason.
I would recommend people to apply early as spaces fill up in my area very quickly due to limited availability. I would also advise people to research what area of the business they would like to join as our service lines vary and some people would enjoy some areas more than others.
