I was helping on the audit for one of EY's big energy clients. I perfomed basic tasks to ensure that I understood what happens in an audit. I was based at the client's office for the majority of my time.
Yes, I learnt many new skills. I also learnt how to put my degree theory into practice within an audit. I developed my teamwork skills and I wll be starting my professional qualifications this year.
My work placement in summer was challenging yet rewarding. The team that I worked with were very friendly and helped me when I had any questions.
Sometimes it is hard to gauge an answer to this question. At the moment the communication from EY and the university is good as there is a newly appointment recruitment staff member but previously the communication was poor.
I like the way my programme is structured. I work towards a degree qualifaction whilst being supported by EY and I begin my professional qualifications and undertake an intership too.
I have not started with a training provider yet. I will be starting this is my year long placement which is better as I now have a more thorough understanding of accounting.
The support from the employer is good. When I started my placement I was connected with a buddy and a counsellor - although they were always very busy which is to be expected.
It is quite hard to say as I am based in London thus the costs are much higher here than elsewhere. However, I do believe that my salary compensates for the fact that I am based in London. EY are also good with reimbursing travel expenses to clients.
There are opportunities for many different clubs. Whilst I was at EY, I joined the football team and it was great to be able to meet colleagues whilst playing sport.
Yes
The degree programme is such a great opportunity to broaden your knowledge whilst gaining valuable work experience. I also believe that it is perfect if you know that you want to progress to become a chartered accountant.
Be yourself! There are many application processes to go through but at the end of the day the people who are interviewing you may be working with you in the future. You need to show them why you will be a valuable asset to their team. Make sure you research the company and what they do before you turn up to interview!
