  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a Test Analyst on the HMRC account. This involves writing test scripts and executing tests for a variety of different interfaces as software changes are made for various projects. I regularly interact with the client but rarely travel from my base location.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • There are a variety of internal/external training courses available to aid learning. I have learnt a variety of new skills revolving around testing and test techniques, especially in using new software.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The programme itself is very enjoyable, especially the initial induction and training. At times the degree can be hard work but that is to be expected. In terms of the work I do on a daily basis - I can see how someone might find it slightly dull/repetitive however my relationship with my manager is excellent and that more than makes up for this.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Capgemini?
  • Having been at the company for 7ish months I have not received much in the way of formal appraisals but I have been involved in plenty of projects and my manager has shown good faith in me at such an early stage. There is a lot of emphasis put on how important degree apprentices are to the company.

    8/10

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme itself is very well organised however at times the actual degree (structured by the lecturers) is not well organised at all. Marking of assignments is inconsistent and there can sometimes be a lack of communication.

    6/10

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • There is plenty of support available from Aston University. They have dedicated teaching assistants for each module that are available when necessary.

    9/10

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • People within the company are always more than happy to have a chat if something's not right. I have frequent meetings with my line manager and reviewer, and my team leader is always on hand to reassure if/when needed.

    8/10

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The starting salary after training is generous given the amount of work you are trained to & therefore can do. This easily covers all expenses. However it can feel at times that once you have been trained more and are doing more work, your salary is not increasing as fast as your skills/abilities.

    8/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are plenty of events and activities to get involved in and this is encouraged at all times.

    10/10

  • 9. Would you recommend Capgemini to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Reputable company, excellent values, looks after employees and encourages growth and learning. Feel valued and made to feel that you will be a crucial part of the organisation in the future.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Capgemini?
  • Be as honest as you can during the recruitment process - if you do not fit the mould Capgemini are looking for then there is a good chance you might not have enjoyed the job. Be yourself and enjoy it.
