I am currently working as a Business Development Manager for Capgemini's UK Public Sector team. Prior to that I was working as a Business Technology Consultant. My daily tasks include shaping propositions with delivery and commercial teams, working with customers from HMRC and DWP to develop ideas and sell into them a wide range of Capgemini offerings.
I have developed a number of technical skills from my days as a business technology consultant, specifically in the Oracle suite of products. Now I am in a more sales oriented role I have developed a wide range of sales based, account management, client acquisition and commercial skills.
The programme has been great, the work has been interesting and I've managed to build up a network of both Capgemini and client contacts. Not only have I carried out training in the UK but also been able to go abroad for courses and worked with a variety of different cultures which is really interesting.
I do feel valued as I am given a lot of opportunity to develop and grow my experiences. especially as I am still only 23 I now find myself leading a number of engagements. However the only issue I've found that is that my pay for what I do is not market centric and it's definitely lower than average.
The programme is well structured as there is clear roles and responsibilities between the different people supporting and running the programme.
the training provider provides an enormous amount of support, from specific guidance on questions to their general attitude to wanting you to succeed. this Is a big motivator.
Capgemini are immensely supportive, there is a culture to help and grow the junior talent communities. specifically giving you the time to study but also using their experiences to help you develop and grow
for the role I am doing now I don't believe the salary aligns to the market, if I went and did a similar role for another organization I would be looking at a circa 25% increase in salary. although we get expenses for travel I don't believe the salary matches the role In some areas of the business.
Capgemini have a variety of outside events from social events to bring communities together to specific giving back events, for example I am involved with the Princes Trust Get Started Programme working with people outside of work and education to support them in kick starting their careers
Yes
Capgemini is a fantastic place to work. it's got a very good culture that is all about developing and nurturing top talent, although the salary is less than market centric rates the flexibility and support of the organization makes up for that. There is also a lot of interesting projects and we are at the forefront of a number of leading technologies in the UK.
Capgemini is a fantastic place to kick start your career, speaking to some people who have applied after me they said that there can be quite large gaps between each stage, this should be explained up front to candidates
