I am employed in a finance service centre and deal mainly with queries and the upkeep and control of credit cards. This involves a lot of excel use and other financial software. The role also involves a lot of customer interaction which helps to build communication skills. I have one day out of the office every week to attend college.
I have developed my Excel skills and developed skills in other finance software. Prior to my starting the role I had limited knowledge of Excel. My role has greatly expanded my knowledge on the software. The role also involves a lot of customer interaction which helps to build communication skills.
I really enjoy my programme. There is a good balance between work and college. Everyone is the company is very approachable and happy to help. They all understand what it feels like to start at a new company so are very understanding when you come across challenges. Other people on my scheme are also very nice.
I feel very valued at Rolls-Royce. The managers are very open to your feelings and have an open door policy when it comes to stating your frustrations and suggesting new improvements for processes. There are frequent meetings with leads to catch up on not just what is going on with your role but also with your personal life.
My programme has a set structure. You are made aware of the structure prior to starting the programme and I am kept up to date with any structural changes to the scheme. There is a clear destination of the scheme and the programme provides you with all the help you need to get there.
A lot! There are lot of study material available for help. The material is available in different formats which help different types of learners which makes it effective for all. There are also contacts available for direct queries and challenges. I feel very supported by my training provider and know there are always available for help.
There is a lot of support on my programme-both pastoral and professional. Each person on my team had a contact to help with any college related queries, a career coach to help aid professional development and an development leader who is on hand to help with any questions related to the scheme. Everyone in the business is also open to support in any way they can..
Yes it is sufficient to cover all my living, travel, daily, social and location costs. There is opportunity for salary increases as you advance in the scheme. With the right management of your expenses and lifestyle there is enough to cover your basic cost and some left over for savings and disposable income.
Yes there is an apprenticeship group which holds a lot of events outside work. These events allow us to get to know people outside the work environment. There are also residential events as part of the scheme which focuses on building life skills which can be applied to both work and personal life.
Yes
It is a great company to work for. There is lots of pastoral and professional support available for everyone. It can be intimidating starting off a new career but the company equips you with all the help you will need in your journey. There is a strong focus of continuous improvement in the company, so procedures are constantly adapting to keep up with a changing world this is vital to ensure continuous development in your time in the company.
I would recommend others to spend some time researching the company. It has a long and varied history which has made the company a world leader. I would also advise you to be yourself in the interview stage; it comes off as more genuine and is less stressful. Apply and give it your best shot, a sure way to fail is not to try at all so just do it.
