We live at a training facility for the first 21 weeks where we work on a NVQ qualification in engineering. We are supplied with nice food and more than suitable room. The site is used by all walks of life in Network Rail and this means we have the option of meeting anyone, from CEO to our line managers. The work day is a little like a college day although there are on site leisure facilities
I have learnt better hand fitting skills, so that I can now work with metal to a basic level that will be allow me to further develop my skills.
The programme is enjoyable as it is easy to make friends and we are helped to complete the work so that we can understand it and use our gained knowledge.
I feel that they look after us as they host us in a nice facility and pay for our food and education. We often get to talk to upper management and they will respond to us when we talk.
The structure is set out by Babcock who teach the classes for the first 21 weeks and they do a great job of ensuring we can complete all work by the end of the 21 weeks. It is a little crammed although it does work.
Lots! They will make time for you if you are struggling and have people that are specially hired to help people with difficulty in certain subjects.
The employer will pay for food and accommodate you. They will also pay for travel during compulsory holidays.
The first yeah is a little difficult due to low salary, But for the first half you do not have to spend much and can save for the last half of the year.
The possibility to play in local football leagues.

It is a secure job with good qualifications. The company wants you to pass the apprenticeship and will do all they can to help.
mild knowledge in mechanical engineering helps, teamwork is a MUST and you can work on your fitness at the gym for the first 21 weeks.
