Job Title: KPMG360 Apprentice No day at KPMG is the same. I am currently working in Indirect Tax where I assist my team with a variety of work. For example, I assist them with due diligence tax reports which involves advising our clients on the VAT treatment of various transactions, VAT environment review projects and VAT compliance to ensure their VAT returns are submitted on time. This involves communicating with external teams and with our clients on a regular basis to meet deadlines.
My apprenticeship is very challenging. Alongside, completing my daily responsibilities within my department I am also studying towards a Level 4 Qualification - AAT. Upon completion, we have the opportunity to complete a Level 7 Qualification. This is very useful and is complementary to the work we perform. Additionally, we receive training relevant to our department to learn the fundamentals before rotating to our chosen department.
I enjoy my programme very much - it is very challenging and no day is the same as there is so much variety. Our programme is very flexible as we get to rotate to a number of departments. I also find my team very helpful as they are always willing to help as long as you ask questions.
I feel very valued at KPMG. For example, in my placements I have been given responsibility from day 1 and often get treated as a Graduate as opposed to a Apprentice.
Our programme is very structure. In our first year we rotate around the firm to a number of departments. Our second and third year involves rotations alongside studying. Our final 3 years involved completing our Level 7 qualification in your chosen department.
Support from our training provider is received quite often. For example, we are often sent regular emails to check our progress on modules where we have upcoming exams. They are also happy to assist with any questions.
KPMG provide a lot of support. For example, they ensure that regular training is provided when rotating to new departments. In my placement my Manager is also willing to have catch up sessions to discuss any queries to help improve my knowledge.
I would say my salary meets my day to day costs. For example, it covers both my travel and living costs.
Yes, we often have social events after work. Additionally, most teams also organise team lunches to develop networks.
Yes
The firm is very supportive and the Apprenticeship Programme is a great alternative to University. At the end of the programme you are at the same level as a Graduate would be.
Make sure you do your research. Also, make sure that you take your time when answering questions and really show your passion and enthusiasm.
