BTEC Level 3 in Engineering NVQ in Railway Engineering ILM Level 3
Find the experience as whole interesting and intriguing. I enjoyed the 9 month down HMS Sultan as I made some friends for life and enjoyed the freedom away from home. However, the organisation and planning of the apprenticeship is quite poor. Especially when the NVQs came about and no one really knew what to do. We were originally set the NVQs and told months later that Network Rail had changed examiners so they all had to be changed and redone.
Appreciated and feel valued at my depot by the manger and the rest of the team members.
Like i said before this is the main downfall for the apprenticeship.
The training in the first year was vert mixed. Some teachers were excellent whereas some were very poor and seemed a little lost in the classroom.
My manager tries to help in every way but doesn't really understand what we apprentices have to do and go through as we were the 1st ones he had. Colleagues help in any way they can.
First year is a very low wage however the free accommodation and food made up for it. The 2nd the 3rd is a little better, but in comparison to other apprenticeships like Nissan, Virgin and BT the wage is fairly poor. (I have friends in all these apprenticeships)
Not that I know of.
Yes
Good long lasting career ahead of you with a decent salary once qualified. Learn new things with a very broad array.
Just seemed as if you're really keen and interested in the job and show that you're willing to learn and try new and different things.
