I am a tax associate. I draft emails to clients, I review initial drafts of tax returns. I create asset summaries, showing clients' finances in all one place. I amend reports. I review billing. I liaise with numerous members of the team as well as members from other teams.
I have learn many new skills. I have been on numerous internal training courses to introduce me to accounting and to provide me with a thorough understanding of tax. I have been attending college to learn the necessary tax information for the ATT. I have learnt to manage my time effectively, to manage relationships, and most importantly many tax technical skills.
I really like my job, I think it's interesting and challenging.
There are many different people that work on different clients, with some people I feel more valued than others, but on the whole I do feel I am valued a lot.
I feel the ATT is very organised, as it internal training. I feel the Diploma is not very organised.
From Kaplan in relation to the ATT there is a lot of support, and work have a lot of internal training and I feel if I was struggling I could talk to my people manager. However, with the diploma, although the contact is nice, it appears she isn't always aware of what work she should be giving us and she isn't clear.
I receive the support I need.
I am not 18, and although I applied for the school leaver programme I have work for a number of years, I moved to London for the role and I took a significant pay cut. Financial I struggle a great deal, and my family have had to support me. I was very disappointed to find out that others received a higher salary based on previous experience, as when I enquired about this I was told this was not possible.
Yes there are opportunities outside of work, however I only attend free events as I am financial unable to socialise.
Yes
I believe it is a place where you can build a solid foundation for your career. You can network and you are provided with the opportunity to gain professional qualifications.
Read the recruitment website and take it's advice. The interview isn't particularly daunting, just use the STAR method when answering questions around the company's competencies, and most importantly, believe in yourself.
