My role is on the track apprenticeship. I am currently at Westwood for 22 weeks. I attend classes daily. I have several assignments to do, which I do in the night.
I have learnt many skills such as management skills, time keeping skills. I have improved my working skills by doing MMD work in the workshops.
I am thoroughly enjoying the programme and the place you stay at (Westwood) is amazing. The other apprentices are all very nice and there is lots to do.
I feel like a respected part of the team. All of the instructors will do anything for anyone and are always very helpful. The instructors are very respectful and treat everybody like adults.
The programme is structured to over many different courses. Some are more practical and some are heavily theory based. There is lots of places to do work once the working day has finished.
I have received lots of support from the tutors and they give feedback frequently. the work is marked fairly quick and they give lots of advice on how to attain top grades.
The managers at Westwood introduced themselves to everyone on the first few days and regularly give updates on the company. Network Rail organise it so you can meet your future line managers.
whilst at Westwood the pay is good and covers everything that I need to buy. However once Im at Depot I may struggle to pay bills and have left over money.
So far there has been lots of clubs, challenges and fitness classes available for anybody to do. there are opportunities to do volunteering.
Yes
Since it is a good company to work for, the future is very bright and also they want you to do the best you can as an individual and constantly push you to do better.
To prepare for all the different interviews and make up scenarios to talk about in the face to face interview. I would also revise over maths and English because the SJT game is difficult.
