I rotate around the business functions including audit, tax and advisory for placements of 6 and 9 months. I am treated as a team member rather than an apprentice and partake in real work, this is especially apparent when client facing. In tax, my role involved speaking to HMRC on behalf of clients and a lot of excel work. In audit, my role involves being on client site and completing testing for audit purposes.
I have learnt many skills including soft skills such as communication and presentation skills. I have learnt how to use Microsoft software such as excel and PowerPoint, but also industry specific software.
I really enjoy my role at KPMG. I learn something new everyday.
I feel very valued, I am treated as a team member and valuable employee rather than an "apprentice".
Very well structured. The qualifications we study and the length of placements are set out from the get go.
BPP are our training provider and provide various support throughout our studies. AAT also contribute to this.
We are always supported through our rotations and studies with a clear management structure specifically for our programme.
My salary is good for an apprentice, but paying for travelling to London from further out still means it could be better.
Yes we are given volunteering opportunities throughout our programme which are outside of work.
Yes
The programme is unique and a one off chance to experience all three functions of an accountancy firm. We are supported with qualifications as well as help with personal development.
