Manufacturing products and gaining skills such as hand fitting, soldering and bonding. Testing the final product whilst attending training sessions, meetings and completing SVQ qualification.
There is a lot of training when starting the Leonardo apprenticeship such as completing an Engineering operations course in college that will give you some of the skills needed in the job.
I really enjoy the Leonardo apprenticeship programme, the work is fun, the building has plenty of facilities and the people are happy to help whenever you need it.
I feel valued by Leonardo, the management are always happy to include you in team briefs that will discuss how the department is performing and any on going projects.
The programme is very well structured, there are many training sessions, support sessions and meetings with management every week that never fail to happen.
My training advisors are very helpful although they can be busy with their job roles, they still manage to help whenever they can.
My employers are always happy to help, this can include having problems when completing a task and problems with SVQ qualification. Managers, assessors and supervisors will always answer your questions.
Salary is pretty good during the apprenticeship, work nights out are paid for although social costs and travel are not paid for. There is also re-location cost available depending on your situation.
There is loads of opportunities outside work such as voluntary events, company events and visits to schools and colleges to promote the apprenticeship.
