My job title is Manufacturing Test Technician and my day to day basis changes depending on which department I'm working with. At the moment I'm working on modelling on CAD software and taking on projects by myself and seeing it through till it is made and tested
I have learnt lots of new skills which is aided by the small awareness sessions that all apprentices take part in to get a wider understanding of different parts of the business.
My apprenticeship at Leonardo has definitely met my expectations with how well it is structured and how much opportunities apprentices get within the business and I really like how team oriented the company is!
During my apprenticeship I feel I have been recognised already through helping out and being rewarded through the employee recognition scheme.
I think the program is very well structured having a small induction before starting at college and then a longer 2 week induction when we are introduced back into the business giving us all time to settle in before getting straight into work.
I receive lots of help from my training provider throughout the apprenticeship and know that if I'm having a problem with anything it will be sorted out.
I receive lots of support from my employer too helping me progress through the apprenticeship smoothly and without problems helping guide me to the parts of the business that will best suit me.
My salary meets my living costs well as I don't have many bills to pay, it also covers all my travelling costs when travelling to work everyday in my car.
There is loads of opportunities outside of work with Leonardo many of which are voluntary events and there are many events that bring people into the company such as surrounding schools etc.
Yes
I would recommend Leonardo to a friend because I think it is a very good opportunity for anyone who enjoys engineering.
A tip I would give to others applying would be work very hard in the application process and make sure there is no mistakes in your written answers. If you get it just remember to keep working hard.
