My Day to Day work as a third year technical apprentice for Leonardo includes, Using ECAD tools to design PCBS for a variety of products including thermal imaging cameras, I am also responsible for Rampaging Chariots, a robot battling contest where schools build remote controlled chariots to compete with each other at a range of events.
From the apprenticeship I have: Started my HNC in electronics engineering (currently in my final year) Been trained how to use Mentor Graphics (ECAD tool) Been trained how to solder to a high standard Improved my communication skills Improved my IT skills Started my NVQ level 3 Gained confidence when talking/meeting people
Joining the company I did not know what to expect, however now I am confident in my ability, enjoy those I work with and enjoy the type of work I am given.
I have received recognition for my efforts/support with Rampaging Chariots and other Events I have helped with.
The apprenticeship scheme is well structured, we gain experience in different parts of the company to better understand how the company works, The company has Mentors to which we can go to for guidance at any point.
Our Training provider provides and answers all questions we have given them over the apprenticeship scheme
We receive constant support from our Employer if we have a need for it
With the Salary I am receiving currently I can afford daily/travel and social costs whilst saving each month but I cant currently afford to move out on my current wages.
