I am a 360 apprentice which means that each day is varied and different. My ole includes rotating around all areas of the business (audit, tax and advisory), whilst studying towards my professional AAT qualifications with BPP.
I can confidently say I have learnt how to approach and meet new people from all areas of the business, being able to carry myself well and confidently speak to people of all levels. I have also began to develop my skills in excel using formulas etc. which I was not able to use before. Through my professional qualifications, I have also learnt a lot about the fundamentals of accounting through modules such as advanced bookkeeping, indirect tax, management accounting etc.
I enjoy the programme as it allows me to be in control of my own career and decide where I want to go by learning which placements I like and dislike. The people I have met and had the opportunity to work with have been extremely nice and are always there to help me and ensure I am getting the most out of what I am doing. I like the idea of rotating as not only does it mean that I experience placements that I would have never considered before but also, through the people I meet I am able to start building my web of networks from a young age.
I feel very valued as I am given work that challenges me and pushes me to constantly develop. In the placements I have been in thus far I have always received feedback from my managers and those I work with/ for showing me not only what I do well but also areas for me to develop and d even better.
I think the programme is structured very well, as over the 6 years there are a number of different pathways available in order to shape and mould your career in whatever way you want it to go including the standard route, the tech route, actuarial etc. I enjoy having a performance manager solely for the 360 programme as it means that I always have someone to go to whenever I need something or have any questions etc.
I receive a lot of support from the training providers as they are always emailing us in case we ever need any help or support to help us with things such as revision timetables etc. They consider everyone's situation individually which I like as it means they care about you doing the best you can. During the live sessions / online tutorials they always make time to answer any questions related to the topic and go over anything that we don't understand
We receive a lot of support from the 360 management team as we have a people leader who is always there to help us if anything is wrong or if we ever have questions. We also have our placement manager who allocates us to our different placements by speaking to us individually and making sure she is putting us in the best placement for our needs.
I think it is ok for a school leaver and is a little above what other apprenticeships may offer however the cost of living in London/ travel costs are very high. However, the salary does go up through each year you develop through the programme.
KPMG offers a number of different opportunities outside work such as the company Academy events that are hosted once a month as well as a number of different groups that you are able to join to suit your interests, hobbies etc. KPMG also encourages the apprentices to start their own clubs for example the women's football team.
Yes
Because it is an excellent place to work and begin your career. the support and the emphasis to do well means you will go far in the business.
Make sure that you do your research and prepare for the questions they my ask you in the interview. Really think about why is it you are applying and what goals you have for yourself if you were to be given a position so that you have something you are working towards. To understand that it is ok to not know what exactly what you want to do because the whole point of the programme is to help you know what you like and don't like!
