My Role is to provide value to the business. The KPMG 360 offers the opportunity to rotate around the different business functions while studying your AAT Level 3 and 4. After having done those, you will be able to specialise in a specific function and rotate within the chosen function. As Apprentices, it is our job to explore the business and have a curiosity about what each team does. We get treated like any other employee and carry the same responsibilities. Our day to day task vary according to what team you are working with. However that's what brings excitement and motivation.
When you are at work, you are constantly learning. whether it is shadowing or getting your hands dirty, there is never a day where you will not learn something new. This ranges from excel to speed at work the possibilities are limitless when it comes to developing skills.
I strongly enjoy my role in the firm as it eases you into the business world rather than being thrown in. I think this programme has opened up a lot more opportunity doors than any other route into accounting.
When I first started working at KPMG, I thought that the apprentices will get treated by the firm differently as we are so young and inexperienced. However, this is not the case, apprentices are treated just like any other employee and is truly valued by the firm.
On a scale to 1-10 I would say 6 as the programme is still very new and no one has reached the end yet to know if the decisions made are effective. The management team are however always considering our feedback in order to make the programme as organised and structured as can be.
Our training providers are available to answer your question during business hours which may not be as effective considering we have work to also commit to. however they do get back to you as soon as they can and there is lots of materials online that can be used.
As I am an apprentice, I have a whole team that supports me whenever needed.
As I live at home, I don't need to pay any bills, therefore I think the salary is appropriate for my situation. However I am able to tell that I would not be able to support myself should I pay any bills or live on my own. I think that as apprentices we should be allowed to have an apprentice oyster card no matter what our pay is.
depending on the team you work with, there are many social events you are able to attend. however most of them are at a pub which conflicts with many of peoples religions.
Yes
I think this is the best way to start a solid career especially if you are unsure about where to begin or specialise.
Be yourself and be open minded. Have a want to try attitude. SMILE :)
