-Software Engineer -Checking Live Running of systems, developing code for them. -Talking to application owners, service managers, SDMs, DBAs -Talking to customers about their data, talking to the people up and downstream of the data feeds. -Responsible of the live running of the applications, reporting of live running issues and statues and the enhancement and maintenance of the live running systems. -Been part of a Secondment to London customer site for 6 months and part of a cutting edge big data project.
-Database certification, Level 4 apprenticeship, Degree starting - Internal courses on legacy coding as well as newer big data tooling - Personal development courses for presentation skills etc. - Learnt general software development practices as well as development management methods e.g. agile, waterfall.
-Love the varied work, and being able to have feet in many "camps" - Team members are all experienced, helpful and friendly - Company has a great work/life balance and very understanding - Met and exceeded my expectations - Yes!
-Managers make sure that praise if felt - I've gained awards when I've done good work - Customer have valued my work and thanked me in person in London or via email. - For outstanding project work I've received rewards
- 2 days up in Telford covering the program. - Many then staying on for 6 weeks course. - We are supported by a dedicated GAP team - We are given time in work and at home for studying
- When I was doing my level 4 apprenticeship I had a dedicated QA tutor who made sure I was keeping up and reviewed my work, he was very good. - We had their mobile, and email and could contact them whenever - we would also meet face-to-face once a month. - We had technical instructions and contacts - Everyone was very helpful - Yes
- My manager was very understanding and gave us time to complete apprenticeship work - They gave us a room for QA apprenticeship work reviews and understood our time and needs. - Easy to get support either via the group GAP team, my manager or via HR. - Everybody wanted me to succeed.
- Salary started at the median but we have reviews often as GAPs where salary would rise, as well as an annual bonus. - Any extra travel (to London, Telford) was covered as an expense - Drinks covered
