My Job as an Premier Foods Apprentice is to shadow the mechanical and electrical Engineers and gain experience on maintaining the machinery.
I have learnt many new skills as well as developing existing skills that I brought to my apprenticeship. I have extended my electrical knowledge and I am currently studying electrical drawings which I then put into practice by building circuits based on my drawings improving my practical skills at the same time. My mechanical skills have also developed as every week I am faced with a different type of breakdown which normally requires a new part being fit or made to measure.
My apprenticeship as a multi-skilled is very enjoyable as every day I am faced with a different task.
I feel very valued at Premier Foods as the other Engineers make you feel part of a team so you are equally important.
Recently a new structure has been put in place which benefits my way of learning better making every day more enjoyable.
Our training provider is very supportive whenever I am struggling with a piece of work or any problems that occur. The training is also amazing.
Support is always there for me when needed weather that is mechanical or electrical support, there are plenty of skilled Engineers willing to assist me in progressing with my apprenticeship.
My salary enables me to pay for everything I own and have a good social life also, however my hobbies / sport have to be sacrificed some months.
Team building exercises are always being organised to help the Engineering team bond and communicate even better.
