I am a Technical Apprentice and as a result am every few months moving around different areas of the company gaining new experiences and helping out where I can within the area I am working in.
During my apprenticeship so far I have furthered my Knowledge and enhanced my Engineering and maths skills as I work to gain my qualifications.
I enjoy the way the scheme is managed and executed as I am never stuck in one particular place for an long period of time. Also this helps with diversity when completing my NVQ.
I feel as though the company values all its apprentices as it is constantly investing in the programme and looking for new experiences for myself and the others.
There is a placement plan that I follow that maps out where I will be at certain times in my programme and as a result I can plan what I will be doing in advance.
We have a main tutor who conducts our reviews and gives us advice and help when necessary. We are also advised to go to lecturers within the college to get help if needed.
We have 12 week reviews which are implemented to constantly track and gain an update of our progress, in these we can put across any issues and gain help accordingly, we also have regular review sessions and presentations to help us throughout the scheme.
My salary is sufficient in covering my travel expenses and living costs, and other necessities, I will generally have enough spare after all of these outgoings for social activities too.
Whilst being part of Leonardo I have become a STEM ambassador, I am constantly being emailed about the opportunity to participate in STEM based events.
