I am a mechanical fitter apprentice, my day to day experience while at works is completing machine changeovers, carrying out planned maintenance and reporting to any emergency breakdown or small niggles on machinery, as an apprentice at the moment I am accompanied at all times by a trained and competent engineer
Definitely learnt a lot of new skills since starting on site after having two years at my college learning he basics , it is really good to be able to get out in the factory hands on with the equipment and meet new people
This is what I've always aspired to do as a career, it took me three years of applying for an apprenticeship to actually get this one so I have grasped it with both hands and give 110% each day, I love what I do
Very valued is an understatement , this company is full of friendly people who want to help me get through my apprenticeship and learn my trade, they are always pushing me to be more than I think I am and this is great
We complete one to one reviews each month with my contact at the factory, I then complete a one to one with my NVQ mentor once a month and also a review with my college contact to ensure I am doing ok and am safe and still enjoying my time on site We have a lot of things we have to complete to ensure we are competent with various things around site
More than enough , as I have said in question 5 I am constantly having reviews to ensure I am on track and am happy to ask anyone questions when needed
I receive all the support I need they are more than happy to help when I need something
Let's say it's better than nothing however as I am currently still living with my parents it doesn't affect me as much but on the other hand I haven't got enough money to move out and get my own place, I have a car to pay for and travel to and from work and it all goes quick it is very hard to save money each month
Yeah, I think so, what opportunities do you mean , but in terms of the apprenticeship I'm serving I have plenty of opportunities to find other work if needed as people are al aha looking for this type of engineer in the industry
Yes
I believe from all the places I have worked at, volunteered at etc... this is by far the best for people and work I am doing
Always make sure you are clued up on the company and what they make etc... always be confident but not cocky and show a genuine interest in the company
