  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am classed as an apprentice in the business and carry out daily tasks to an associate level, sometimes with tasks of higher level such as assistant manager. Depending on department roles can include fieldwork / testing, analysing data, producing reports / client deliverables. Communication is frequent internally with my team and other teams when working on the same project. External interactions depends on department - Audit high exposure and communication, Tax - less communication.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, lots of skills in all departments. Communication, technical (AAT qualifications, audit training courses, tax training courses). Developed more IT skills on excel, word, powerpoint and other programmes such as SAP, Sentinel, Restructuring Applications, IDEA.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Work and team is varied depending on department. Most teams I have really enjoyed working with and the work has been varied and interesting. Sometimes work can be low / teams can be less interactive but mostly the company culture is friendly. It is a lot more accepting and friendly than I expected from a corporate environment.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by KPMG?
  • I feel I am valued by KPMG and the work that I do is valued by my teams. Recognition is generally good but sometimes could be improved with more reward / email 'thank you' dependant on the team.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Mostly very organised and support / training is communicated well in advance and is conducted very well. Sometimes meetings/training/structure of qualifications is communicated later than people may prefer.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Support is readily available for everyone via various different methods. Sometimes quicker responses would be more ideal, especially if we have an exam approaching.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Support is available when needed. We have performance managers, buddies and mentors all who are there if needed and will happily support you personally and professionally.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • As I am still at home, living costs are lower. If I was to move out I may struggle to meet living costs in addition to my travel / daily costs in addition to having social costs available for enjoyment.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Voluntary initiatives are in place offering paid days per year to volunteer. Company events / activities are quite infrequent. There are sports clubs I believe but not many.

  • 9. Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I really enjoy my job and how it is shaped to my career goals. I have enjoyed moving around departments and getting a broad understanding of KPMG. The people at KPMG are great to work with too.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
  • Study the application process and use all the help they provide as it is useful for the process. Keep your eye out for experience days or experience programmes / GAP programmes as this helps you to get some contacts in KPMG and some experiences to talk about.
