I am an Apprentice Technician on the structures team. I help to create structural drawings and 3D models for projects that we are working on. I use software such as Revit
I have learnt how to use software such as Revit, AutoCAD and Rhino etc. I have attended courses on CDM Regs 2015, and Asbestos Awareness. I have learnt about the construction industry and how structures are designed.
I enjoy working with colleagues as part of a team and I enjoy being part of the company. It has more than met my expectations.
I feel valued by Arup. I receive feedback regularly and am very involved with tasks/projects.
The programme is well-organised and structured, and I receive all the necessary training and induction. Task are delegated to me by project managers and my mentor, they make sure I have enough work to do and also make sure I can meet deadlines.
I receive some support from my training provider and college tutors, however the BTEC course could be much better managed and organised by Salford College. I enjoy college a bit but I do not enjoy doing the NVQ.
I receive lots of support from my mentors and colleagues. I can ask questions and receive help at any time, they also help me with college work.
My salary meets my costs. It covers living , travel and social costs. I also get a pay rise every six months for the duration of my apprenticeship.
There are lots of opportunities outside of work, both social and work related. These include charity activities, ICE events and social activities.
