  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My daily job has me interacting with multiple disciplines within the company I work for such as hardware test, production, hardware and trials. These interactions are to allow me to complete projects given to me by said disciplines. As an apprentice within my final placement, I'm gaining valuable knowledge and experience everyday relating to my work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I fully enjoy my programme as it has given me amazing opportunities to progress myself both intellectually and as a person. Within the 3 years that I have been a part of the apprenticeship there has been multiple points where I've had the opportunity to assist outwith work and do volunteering work for good causes in and around Edinburgh.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Leonardo?
  • Leonardo values all of its employees regardless of department or programme. They make that very well known as my department always offer me real work to complete and do not limit me as to what I am able to do. There is always someone around to help when there is a problem and everyone is willing to spare a few minutes to help.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Support from our employer is just as good as the support from our training provider. • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • After progressing into year 3, the salary given by my employer is very good, again going up in year 4, it is much better than most other salaries that are offered to even some outside of an apprenticeship.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • there are constant opportunities outside of work as there are always spaces for volunteering to take place alongside company/apprentice activity days which we all go out for a group activity such as paintballing, airsoft, go-karting or something along those lines (usually about once every quarter).

  • 9. Would you recommend Leonardo to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Leonardo has some of the most knowledgeable employees that are willing to set aside time to help with any problem that could possibly arise. couple this with the ability to learn at college and earn reasonable money, who wouldn't recommend that?

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Leonardo?
  • The application process can take some time as there will be a lot of candidates but they will get back in touch with you. the process is quite long but is used to produce the best candidates that are available. It's the best decision I have made in my life so far and hopefully will continue to operate at the highest of levels as it has over the last 3 years of my apprenticeship.
